Community

As a family business born and raised in Kamloops, we take pride in the community we call home. Below are some of the charities and organizations we support.

Kamloops Curling Club

Curling has a long history in Kamloops, and the Hardaker family does too. Each year, we sponsor the Kamloops Curling Club through on ice advertising, donate labour hours towards repair and maintenance projects, and volunteer with event hosting.

Annual MBK (Michael Benjamin Kirkey) Memorial Golf Tournament

The MBK Memorial Golf Tournament is an annual event held in Kamloops, BC that honours the memory of Benjamin Kirkey. Ben fought a life or death battle with Lyme Disease for the better part of two years. Finally, after many long nights and an endless determination, Ben won the battle and returned to proper health. Shortly afterwards, in a tragic turn of events, Ben’s life was lost in a car accident.

Ben was a very dear friend to the Hardaker Family, and in his honour we have donated countless hours towards the continued success of the tournament. In recognition of Ben’s strength to overcome and survive his battle with Lyme Disease, proceeds raised from this year’s tournament was divided in two ways:

  1. Supporting the Dr. E. Murakami Centre for Lyme as in the previous years at the tournament.
  2. Providing treatment for the children of Deborah and Peter Hrychiw – Judah and Isaac. Judah and Isaac are two of four nine-year-old quadruplets from Kamloops who are currently suffering from Lyme Disease and have to undergo expensive treatment out-of-country. Their Facebook page for updates on the children can be found here: Click Here
